Research: Performance, Narrative and Concept

Rachel Platten Fight Song

This music is performance based.  Rachel is the main actor and the singer in the video.  This makes the video look real and it makes the audience feel more engaged with the music.  Because she is acting and singing in the music video it help the audience get a good understanding of the song too.

In this part of the song she is singing into the camera as she sets up her piano to sing her song to a few people in a small bar.  The representation is that everyone has to start somewhere so never give up on what you want to do.

At this part the beat cuts to this scene and it represents her big break though in singing so now she is more widely known.

The concept of this song is that never give up on something no matter how hard things get because you never know if something big could happen and if you carry on doing want to you want to do you will get there. It is performance because she is singing it, narrative because it tell the story of her success and concept because some of the locations and costumes don't connote the lyrics.
